Before purchasing my Armalite SuperSASS rifle I started researching a lot of different options. At the end, I found that the Armalite AR-10 SuperSASS was the best choice for the money. Primarily because I didn't have to do anything to the rifle except pick a quality scope mount and scope.

I found this web site after buying my rifle. I noticed a lot of people posting threads about "building my SASS rifle". I'm sure some of these individuals may have purchased a basic 308 platform, then decided to upgrade when their needs changed or they saved up some extra $$$.

I'm more curious about the ones who purchased bare receivers (upper/lowers) and are building their SASS from the ground up. Are you guys building something better than a factory SuperSASS?

Did I screw the pooch here by buying instead of building?

I would love to hear your reasons for building instead of buying. :)

I am going to put in my .02 in on this...
Though I do not have a "Actual SASS"...I have built mine to be just that...Mine.
Hence my user name...BUILDING MY SASS.
The True SUPER SASS is a work of art and built to be the best it can be...
With all the parts designed around the purpose intended...
to be a Semi Automatic Sniper System
Alot of thought and engineering went into making it one of the best of it's class...much like the AR-10T...but for a specific purpose...BYBY BAD GUYS..
Unfortunately the military was the one who.."SCREWED THE POUCH" by going with the M-110...
As for building a SUPER SASS...well...in my honest opinion..(humble as well)..we all can build our own SASS...but to be the True SASS...well there is only one..
The ArmaLite SUPER SASS...built to perfection by the company....who designed it.
You can build all you want...buy this barrel or this receiver, this trigger...and so on...but the SUPER SASS..is unto it's own....
So in my opinion...did you screw up.....NO.
I myself ENVY you and all who own one of the most perfect Sniper Rifles ever built...and believe me...I too looked at them...but for me...the cost was the issue...for what the price tag is...I built my P.A.S.S instead...
but I still would love to own the True SUPER SASS...
I spent many months looking at all the 7.62s out there...reading every article and watching any video I could click on...but when it all was done...I chose
the Leader and the Original company that made the AR-10 and the SUPER SASS..
I chose ArmaLite....
Not much help on details...just my Opinion..
and it is like...well you know... :dry: :laugh: every one has one... :whistle:
