Having problems with my ar-10..It fires nicely but wont cycle .It was built by armlite with 26 in bull barrel,Tried surplus ammo, custom reload(powders and diffent bullets)..cleaned and cleaned,Thought maybe it was gas tube but cant remove it from gas block..Gas block and tube comes off of barrel as one piece, after I removed the pin..What can do???Hate to give up but Its driving me Nuts!!!!!! Thanks CRAIG.
Bolt must not be getting blown back far enough to pick up a new round. Something wrong with the gas tube or recoil spring too strong? What does Armalite have to say about the problem?
I feel your pain! I built one just like it 26"BBl,ect.,and it would not cycle either.Found out it was gas tube where it meets the gas key on top of the bolt.It had a flared end and was hanging up the bolt not allowing it to close all the way on firing of follow up shots.Cost me a new bolt and carrier to boot.It seems like the company that made this particular upper(in my case)wanted to cut corners on the tightening of the barrel and nut which in turn tweaked the gas tube off of center, and then they opted for a "farmer fix"with the gas tube and key.I replaced the bolt with an armalite bolt and carrier, and have to still replace the gas tube with an armalite product.Hopefully I will get out this sunday to find out how this will group and if the cycling function is corrected.BTW-the company no longer offers this upper in the 26"bbl.Mine was not built by armalite(blackthorne)!
