Dave Johnson here. Started shooting very young. My father was a very avid rifleman and he started me shooting when I was just two or three to judge from the pictures. I got my first rifle when I was 5 years old. A Remington Model 514. While I was in the service (USN) I had the opportunity to work in the Armory on-board ship. We had 120 M-14s that I got to know very well. I spent a lot of hours on the range with a straight, stock, issue M-14, just putting rounds down range. So I am a big fan of the 7.62X51 While my tender was home ported in Guam I happened to meet an Master chief who actually owned an AR-10. He had acquired it while he was stationed in Europe in the mid 60's. We shot it several times over two or three months before he rotated back to stateside. I have wanted a 10 ever since then. I realize that the rifles in production today are much, much different than that rifle. I have handled several different variations and I am really leaning towards an Armalite AR10B, however with my budget the way it is right now I may end up with one of the DPMS models.
