Hi from Annapolis!

Been shooting for a little less than a year now. Have an AR-15 and .308 bolt gun.

Really starting to like the .308 cartridge and am in the market for getting an AR-10'ish type semi.

Was in a tactical comp this last weekend and saw how inadequate my 5.56 was. Know I would have faired better with a .308.

So, here I am... To learn and buy/build a good AR-10.

Thanks in advance for all the help and advice.

Well first off ....welcome.
As for the 7.62/.308 vs the 5.56/.223, as someone said once..."Why 7.62, when the shooting starts people have a tendency to hide behind things..."
but never the less...the 15 has it's place...
My advice is to buy a complete rifle rather build your first...that way you are familiar with the platform when and if you build one...that of course is just my .02 for what little that is worth..
Again Welcome to the site.

WELCOME TO THE GROUP!!! I would say DPMS or armalite is the way to go. are you lookin for a target model or carbine or what? You could also go M1A as well. I have to say i LOVE my armalite ar10T!!!!!!!! B)

Welcome Yoshi!

We're almost neighbors. I'm up North of Baltimore.

Once you get your new rifle built where are you going to shoot it?

Thanks for the kind welcome and the advice!

Don't get me wrong, I love my AR15(Stag), it's my 1st tactical style rifle and I hope to keep it for a long, long, time. Plus, I enjoy the 5.56/.223... I am just looking a little more distance/accuracy when I am competing in the team events I take part in.

I'll be purchasing a complete rifle, but there are so many to chose from: DPMS, Armalite, GA Precision, LWRC, etc...

I definitely don't feel like spending $3K. More around the $2k mark. So, that GAP-10 is an option. But, I haven't ruled out the M1A either. I just want 1moa or better and I hear that's tough with the M1A. Too much of a noob to make an educated decision on that, but I do know semi .308's can get that and better.
