I am getting ready to buy a new ar10 I think I have narrowed it down to the rock river varmint 20 in. Hope that is the right decision. What scope sould I buy trying to stay under 1000 but if I have to go over I will. What do you guys think?
When it comes to deciding on a scope there are a few key questions that pop into mind. Are you looking for something for fast target acquisition like a Trijicon or Aimpoint? Or are you looking for something that will take you out to 800 yards?

Welcome to the site...but If I may, not trying to be rude...did you give ArmaLite any consideration...as you said...getting ready to buy....just asking....as for the scope...well at that $$$ you have alot of options....but all in all...it has to be something that is going to be best for you....check out the optic section and read a few of the posts...then research the scopes mentioned....
Again Welcome...

I too have the RRA LAR-8. I have the 16" Mid-Length and the 26" Varmint model. I've been thinking about getting a 20" varmint upper, like you are thinking about, because my 26" Varmint shoots extremely well!
When you get it, let us know how it shoots. I'm very interested in that 20" version, but I may hold off for a while. I hear that Rock River is going to come out with some different uppers here soon. Probably a .260 or 6.5 Creedmoor, or both. Plus some other calibers, probably .243, etc.
We have a forum here dedicated to the Rock River's. You might want to check it out.
Also, here's a picture of what my LAR-8 Varmint will do:

Group is just over 1/2". The 1st clean, cold bore shot, is part of the same group.

I have good things about armalite and that was probally the hardest decision I had to make but I had a Rock River and loved it and they seem to be real close in a lot of forums that I have read. I really like the night force but one step at a time with the wife. Any advise is welcomed though so keep them coming and thanks.
