I guess my introduction did leave something to be desired. Guess I could have given out some more info.
I currently live in the Communist State of Kommiefornia. I am retired as of February this year after 21 years of Army service. My service includes 11 years active duty, 6 years active reserves, and 4 years as an ROTC instructor. I will moving to VA within the next 12 months to get a chance to live in a free state.
I enjoy shoointing at the longer ranges with my Armalite AR-30 in .338LM topped with Leupold Mark 4 glass. I also enjoy shooting, training, and teaching in CQB setups.
My current weapon of choice is my Stag with JP Fire Control, Magpul Furniture, topped with an Aimpoint CompM2 mounted with GG&G QD Cantilever mount.
I'm hoping to learn a crapload of information about the AR-10 here. I do have a questoin though... I haven't had the oppurtunity to really browse the site but is this site leaned more torwards the Armalite (the actual AR10) or all ARs in the .308 platform?
We are centered around the ArmaLite AR-10 and it's various models, but we do have other members here that own other Variants as I call them...Living in CA....I don't think you can own an ArmaLite unless you lock it down with all the "legal" stuff....that really must bite...I know here in NE...we can own just about anything and more if you have the Permits or licenses....always something...
But being you own a AR-30...I guess you are a cousin ...so I would like to here more about it...as to how does it compare to the 50..If this seem like a topic you would enjoy...please let me invite you to the 10 MOA section where Non AR-10 topics take place...
I would like to hear the details...as so would the other members...
I know of one or two that have been thinking on that...

You are correct in your assumptions about California with one exception, you can't buy an Armalite period. They are one of the rifles that are banned by name - "Armalite - All models" is how it reads on the "list" that we have to deal with.
I'm really more interested "the other toys" that other states can have because of where I'm moving to next year is more of a free state and I can get those toys. I'm planning on selling the Fulton and getting a new one and Knights or the Armalite are my options.
I'll be posting more questions in the better locations. I'm still learning this site.
