I have recently developed an interest in the AR10T, so I'm doing my homework, and reading all I can find on the subject, thought I would drop in here and be a part of the site. I'm new to the Ar10, but not to rifles, I've got the M1a's, HK's, 700P's, Ar15's, MG's, you get the picture. I'm in the market for the Ar10T and would like to buy one new or used in the north middle Tennessee area.
Welcome to the group Al, You'll really enjoy owning one. Up here guys use them from gophers,
to Antelope, little heavy to pack for elk. Read AR's info on barrel break in and if you go for
a used one either shoot it or slyly inquire if the guy went through the procedure. I didn't mount
any sites on mine until I had it done just to keep from the temptation of shortcutting it. They
are as accurate as any bolt gun when they are right. 1/4" is not uncommon.
The best advice I can give about an ar10(t) is that it is based off of a rifle platform you already are familiar with and shoots with great precision.
Same as bigwheel, I followed the break-in procedure as well. Even to this day I usually only shoot 10-20 rounds before i run a patch through the barrel.
With out a doubt I can pick it up cold and shoot the top of a soda can everytime at 200 yards.
