My names Harold, but my friends call me Krell...long story...I'm an ex-Aramy Paratrooper, and an Ex-DOD Police Officer. I am a Disabled Vet, medically retired due to a car accident.
Grew up with gun's ever since I was big enough to hold one, and I love shooting. Never did any competition's, just liked to shoot for fun. I am just now getting back into it after almost 20 year's. I currently own a stock Remington R-25, and I like the rifle pretty much as it is.
Pardon me for asking here, but I'm not really sure under what Topic line this would fit in. Being a Disabled Vet, I'm on a strict budget. The rifle I have a couple of problem's to solve. The magazines are from DPMS and I noticed that when it feed's, it scar's the the tip's of the round's pretty badly...and I need to find an optic that will let me use the rifle out to it's maximum effective range. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd Appreciate it, no end!
I am looking forward to seeing what I can learn from all of you!
Krell-
From all of us here welcome to the group! And THANK YOUfor your service to this country!!!! As far as your question goes about the magazines, i hear that the C-mag ones work pretty good. My buddy has the same rifle that you do and after he put a different on he LOVES it, it is sub-moa. As far as glass goes i would go with leupold or nikon. But again welcome!
Krell, as DNK has done, welocme. You are one of a growing number of member here that have that rifle....I am sure we can find your answers together...and all learn from it....
In the R-25 section there is some info about your rifle...if it is not there we will go from that point....MSH is more than likely to have some input on this issue given his long background in the gun world...as you are fortunate to own the rifle you do...Magpul now make a polymer mag for that one...you may try one of those...but again MSH may have some answers too...
As for the optics...check out the optic category for some input...be prepared for some entertaining discussions...it is kinda like the whole Ford, Chevy Dodge thing...LOL  But a note on optics, Price is a major factor....so..you have to decide on that first and then we can give you some directions....
Gentlemen,
I apologize for the late reply, and Thank You both for the welcome to the group. I am going to check with DPMS on the mag situation and see what they have to say about their product.
Of course you know how Murphy has to get his hand's into everything...I buy 7 mags at $39+ each, and right afterward, the P-Mag's come out for $19! If I ever meet Murphy, I have a long list to talk to him about!
On the optic's, I'm going to check out that section asap...or whenever the "Honey Do" list run's short. Regardless, I look forward to talking with you in the future...
The mag issue is a nonissue with a DPMS. C-Products has a great web site ans the Magpul mags are smooth. Both are under $25. C-products mags are the best of all.MSH
BMS C-mags is all we use on everything any more. Its hard to beat that stainless steel. They are $22 for the 308. Their AI mags are better than AIs at half the cost. TR was getting his stuff to go back to the sandbox Saturday and he won't be issued a rifle untill he gets there but the C-mags were packed.MSH
