New to the 308 world! was created by Crazi
Picked up a Rock River LAR-8 last week and looking forward to modding it out to look like an Elite Operator. I would have bought the Elite operator if my LGS had it in stock but I took what I could get since stock levels seem to be low everywhere else.

Ordered a PWS FSC30 last week as well!

Looking for optics right now... Choise is between Bushnell Elite 3200 3-10 x 50mm, Vortex Viper 3.5-10x50, or something else in the sub $500 range. Since I am only a "paper killer" at the range, my other rifles have a BSA Contender, BSA Platinum, and BSA Panther scopes on them.

I see that there is an Optics forum so I am gonna look through there and the ammo section before I start asking questions that may already be answered.

I see you have made yourself at home....good, and Welcome to AR-10T.com......You are not alone on the RRA, we have a few here that own that platform and some new members as well....As stated you will find a wealth of info here...Hope you will post up some pics in the gallery as well as in a thread or two...
On your questions...you will find the debate on optics an informative and entertaining one...My self I have a Leupold Mark 2..( no longer in production, replaced by the Mark AR ) as for what you have...the Bushnell may work for you, but I would suggest trying Burris...they have better Customer Service, but that is just me...
Your RRA .308 will eat those BSAs....trust me on that...they are not designed for semi auto...with a kick... :lol:

Which barrel length did you get?

I've got two LAR-8's, the 16" and 26" Varmint. Both are outstanding shooters!

i have heard good things about the vortex scopes. there is a video on youtube showing a bait shop putting them through some abuse and they came out fine.

First off, I'm also new. I pick up my RRA LR8 16" today. Never owned one. Come to think of it, I ever owned an AR before. Guess I'm in the same boat as you. Made a package deal on my optics. Bought an Eotech and 3x magnifier. Never used a holographic optic before but it looked cool. This should be interesting. New gun and optics. I will add a scope later when I move west. I'm in florida and there is not a lot of open area. My main interest is personal security/hunting. I should be good with a scope to 250. I also plan to reload. I have my equipment and am searching for a good load.
Let me know how your first range work goes. Take pics. I'll do the same in about 3 weeks. ( work is getting in the way of fun )

Welcome fellow LAR-8 owners. I have the 26" version and love it. It was holding 2.75" group at 400y with factory Fed GMM 175gr the other day.
