Hi all- just got my dpms G2 lightweight hunter- I am a lefty and the brass hits the deflector and then hits off my Cheek- very disappointing to say the least!!! Instead of buying an aftermarket deflector I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a gunsmith that can build up the deflector that is there? Or something similar? Thanks in advance for your help!!!
Try sticking a chunk of grip tape on the deflector. I use it to lessen the denting for reloading but noticed it kicked the brass out closer to 3 O'clock after I installed it.
Run some heavy 180 or 175gr loads through it lube copiously and see it that smoothes out the process. Also FAA hit on it being under gased, can be a common problem assiciated with what your seeing, but seeing that it is new blast through some heavy loads and lube before doing anything else. How many rounds have your put through it so far?
Hey libertarian was only able to get 20 rounds thru her- the police had my range - and it's closed yesterday and today for maintenance but will def get more thru this weekend - I am a bit early on the complaint- I am also using crap Ammo just to get some rounds down range- I will def update after I get 100 or so down range- also will put down heavy loads thanks for the help!!!!
Hi faawrench- got some cheap Turkish 762 just to get rounds thru it- yes it is factory and no idea what buffer? I am a newbie - not to shooting but this is my first AR10 type rifle. I probably should have waited until I got rounds they it to ask but we will see after this weekend. Thanks
Got ya.........many rifles do not do well with 147-150 grain ammo.
I am willing to bet $100 that cheap arse ammo is the only issue here. Stick with 168-175 grain ammo. And from a quality manufacturer. Hornady, Lake City, Winchester,......etc.
