My brother-in-law is looking at the DPMS AR 10 that WalMart is selling. I think he said they have it for about $915. It doesn't have the forward assist on it. Does anyone know anything about this rifle? Is it worth the money or is it a POS bobo rifle??
They have been selling that for about a year now. DPMS is a popular brand, especially among the build your own crowd. A lot of aftermarket parts available. Forward assist is not really necessary. Nice to have sometimes, but not absolutely critical. Can't tell you much more because I have never shot one.
Smitty- I don't think there is a down side to buying that rifle. Great deal, plenty of after market items to keep anybody busy. DPMS is not junk, a few years ago I bought a 556 lowpro classic from a fried that needed some cash. It is there bottom of the line gun. You could shoot nickels all day at 100yds. they take there rifles serious enough , I say buy with confidence. Then you can borrow it, evaluate and see if you want one just to set up as a high volume plinker. Shoot often.
My brother has a DPMS and really likes it. He has had "zero" problems with it and as stated there are plenty of aftermarket "goodies" for him to play with. Enjoy !!
