On Saturday I had the humble honor of participating in a Pheasant Tower Shoot to benefit the Families of the Wounded Foundation -- a non-profit that provides benefits to families who's loved ones have been injured in combat.
It was an incredible hunt. They released 350 pheasants and the retrievers recovered 150 birds.
My shoulder is still sore from shooting about 100 shots. These birds were high fliers and the 40 mph wind gusts did not help!

The caution tape was put on several birds before they were released. It signified an 'award' bird for which a prize was given.
Things like coolers, cleaning kits, etc. were given out to a shooter who killed a bird with a ribbon. Needless to say ... if a bird was released with a ribbon it got shot at at least 20 times.
How did they know who hit the prize bird
I sure miss days of abundant birds in Iowa.........not that I got many shots back then, my Dad was lightning fast and rarely missed. he trained a good dog as well. We ate Pheasant about twice a week while I was growing up :twothumbs:
