You can not legally have this done, must be done by yourself.

It is a machining process. Electrical Discharge Machining, uber-accurate, to about 40 millionths of an inch. A continually fed wire acts as the electrode, cutting or machining the part.

Help me understand why EDM'ing a mag well is better than just milling it?

I've never thought of using wire EDM in that way before.

What ever you say,........I have always been told that the end user MUST do all the machining beyond the 80% stage.

Guess the question was worded a bit wrong, start googling EDM. Cost associated with getting that work done will far outweigh the value of the piece in question.

Wouldn't it be the person doing the EDM work at risk? The whole 80% is wrought with confusion. I just can't see an officer handing me back an AR that doesn't have a serial number without some follow up questions...........
Can I pass one on to my children after death? So many gray areas that could cause issues. Maybe issues that could be resolved but not without hassle. :twocents:
