hi im drew so i joined this site because i bought an ar10 in january on gunbroker.com, paid way too much but i love it. i am having trouble with gunsmiths in my area when it comes to parts for this thing. i got a beautiful dpms lr308 and want to replace the buttstock. its six position standard style. i want a magpul prs which i need a new buffer tube for. are ar15 and ar10 buffer tubes the same diameter? same thread? cant find ar10 buffer tube.
Welcome! I am a little confused,. If I understand right, you have the DPMS LR-308 right? When it comes to stocks and other parts, it pays to be specific with the 308 AR's. Since parts interchangibility is not like AR 15's. I am guessing one of the more tech proficient web site members might be able to point you the right direction. I dont know much about that model, but welcome aboard.
Welcome aboard! :usa:
I'm not sure on DPMS spec but you can find different Magpull stock kits that include everything here in the shopping section on the forum, some are specifically for the LR-308. I didn't see the PRS but it was a long list.
welcome.
The tubes should all be the same, standard rifle length receiver extension. The difference in the PRS is that the cheek piece on the AR15 version is too close to the charging handle to use on a .308. So you will need an AR10/308 PRS, unless you plan to never use the cheek piece. For the rest of it, you will need the dpms rifle spring and buffer.
