Hi all. I've been a member on AR10.com for awhile. This is my first login via Ipad so I'm still finding my way around. I'm a bit of a Luddite by choice, but I'm slowly coming around to the new tech world. I shoot an Armalite AR 10, FT, Nikon 4-14 mil-dot, collapsible stock. Plain Jane, very accurate shooter. I drill oil wells for a living, work a lot. Pretty simple guy.
Don't know how I ended up back at one post, even tho I didn't a lot on AR 10.com. Is this a different site??? Makeminearmalite

Don't overlook other brands as well - DPMS/Remington/Bushmaster make decent .308 ARs as well. And Smith and Wesson just introduced their .308 AR, the M&P 10.

If you've got some extra coin LMT, Knight's Armament, Noveske, LaRue, and GA Precision make a fantastic .308 AR.

How much experience with the AR platform (any caliber) do you have?

Thanks for the welcomes, guys.

LebbenB,

Have a pretty fair amount of AR experience with the 5.56 chambering in carbine format but no appreciable time with .308/7.62 beyond shooting a friend's RRA at the range.

Mostly, my interest in .308 is to facilitate longer range paper punching, with some degree of precision, in a familiar semi-auto design having the same modularity as the AR15. And also, because I want to try something different from my M1A. Great gun but ready to explore another option. :cowboy:
