Just took a close look at a scope mount that came with the Nikon M-308 scope I bought. Was going to lap the rings today and noticed they are so far away from where they should be that I am debating wether I should take it to a machine shop and have them milled first. Maybe even scrap it. Does anyone have a tip on what they did with this mount or what could be done. When viewed from the end (through the rings) there is about a a 32nd of a inch lip where the upper part of the rings mate with the lowers
Here's the picture and included a pic of the scope.

(I helped you out a little there Lib. When you load pics from now on, once they are all loaded, there is a little tab that says "insert". Place the cursor where you want each photo to go and then hit the insert button and poof, pics openly displayed nice an pretty like - Sharkey)
If it is new, contact Nikon with those pictures. Or at least discuss it with where you bought it. Maybe one of the wiser heads on this forum can steer you the right direction.
I wish I could help on this one but I did my best by at least fixing your pics Lib. Left you a note on the bottom that'll help next time with loading pics..
First...did you try to reverse it (turn it 180 degrees)...sometimes they are drilled in a way that they only fit one way....
Next, if that does not work...Contact Nikon if it is their mount...they should replace it...
I hate to say this...but if either does not work....I would say get a different mount...if you have it milled...you will loose the coating and may scratch your scope if not make the mount to loose to really use...
My suggestion....when and if possible....by an ADM mount...well worth the money....
Just my :twocents: hope it helps...

Tried to switch it around, made it worse. Contacted Nikon via E-mail, sent pic's, this morning. The scope was 540.00 +tax it is 4x16x32 with a BDC reticle, designed for the AR-10 by nikon.
Thanks for the info on the scope...I hope Nikon stand behind their products like they say they do....Keep us up to date on what happens...I am very curious to know...In the Mean time....you might give this a look...
I think this would suit your needs perfectly...

Libertine, I do some freelance work for Nikon and will see what I can do to help you out.
I have a few buddies with that same scope/mount combo who didn't have an issue so hopefully your's is an isolated incident.
