 I have been shooting for nigh on to 50 years. Have been building AR's last 8 years. Always the .223 variety. Happened into a store a couple months ago to buy some hunting supplies and what is on the wall but a Bushy AR10. Good price of $1300,00 so I took it never having shot one. Only one mag comes in the factory shipment so ...... I am looking to begin moving into this caliber for several reasons. What magazines besides Bushmaster will work WELL in this gun? This is the first issue that I will settle. I am aware that the inmates who are running the asylum in Washington want to ...... who knows what those idiots want, ..... what brand and who sells them would be a good start.
Oh yeah, I also bought some land/acreage so I can shoot it when I want.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.
Hello and Welcome to the forum. I hope you like the site and hang around for a while. We're always happy to see new members. :welcome:
As for your mag question. Although I am sure one of our super gurus will jump right in and give you facts, figures and dollar amounts for the mags in question, I thought I would just throw in that I BELIEVE that Bushmaster built their .308s to take the old surplus FAL Rifle mags which would put you into a VERY good category when it comes to availability and probably price as well but I would wait for a final words from one of our "facts guys" - they LIVE for this stuff.

Used to be so. The original Bushmaster .308 ARs used modified FAL mags. Now, Bushmaster .308 ARs are built on the KAC/DPMS pattern. So KAC, DPMS, and PMAG magazines will fit.
Rock River uses a modified FAL mag for it's LAR-308 line of big block ARs.
Rock River built the original Bushmaster .308's under contract. They had a problem with stress cracks in the bolt I believe. Since redesigned. I don't believe the new Bushmaster .308's take FN magazines.

That and shoehorning an FAL mag into an AR mag well proved problematic, resulting in failures to load, extract/eject, and lock back on empty. RRA has improved the design over the years, though.
Is there a preferred magazine from the list above KAC DPMS PMAG that is the best performer? I would like to take the shortcut of someone elses experimenting with them.

Interesting, I recall bushmaster having a hard time with their original 30 cal. I did not know Rockriver was involved in it, which explains a lot.
I imagine Cerberus has much to do with bushy falling in line with all the other holdings as far as mag type.
