I just got my backordered Nikon 308BDC scope after waiting 2 months. I used the recommended back-up sights from Midwest to break-in the barrel per the owners manual. I was told these sights would clear my scope once mounted to serve on as back-ups. The Nikon 308BDC Scope is sold with a one piece mount with a built in 20 MOA slope. I had to remove the rear sight to mount the scope. I am having trouble believing that this mount, with this MOA built in would be too low to allow the Midwest sight to clear. Being on a budget, I choose this scope in part because it came with a mount which appears to be well made but is it poorly engineered? Do I need to purchase another mount as suggested or are the Midwest Backup Sights to tall to serve as back-ups?
On another note, I need a bipod I can mount on my free float hand guard that was stock with my AR-10T with the 20" match grade barrel. I know I am going to need to mount a 5 inch rail first. I want a bipod that has an elevation from 9 inches up and it must pivot for uneven surfaces. When it folds away, I want it compact as possible and not look like some kind of bolted on aberration.

Harris bi-pods attach to the front sling post so you wouldn't need a rail. They have every size and style you could want and a reputation for quality.
I am going to go with the YHM-227A. I was very uncomfortable with my cheek weld and my ear protection was being pushed aside by the stock. I think the 1/2 difference in height will make for a better shooting position overall and accommodate my rear iron backup sight. I was unfamiliar with Yankee products until now so they will get a bookmark. They have an interesting and unique product line.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
