My first ar and i bought some magpul flip up sights, but since the rail on the gas block is lower than the rail on the upper so they wont line up. i may put a scope on it later but i wanted open sights just to plink and maybe brush hunt deer. whats my options?

The gas block's pic rail on an AR10 sits a little lower than the rail on the upper receiver. Armalite, GG&G, and Midwest Industries all make front sights tall enough to put the front sight post and the rear sight on the same plane.

+1.

They all have em. I've been doing research for my wife's build next spring and I'm going to have to do the same thing. I've found that I actually prefer the Armalite sights due to the simple fact that it's gonna be an Armalite M-15 in 7.62 x 39 and I can't think of a reason to go any farther than Armalite for the right sights.

I'm sure the others make quality products but since Armalite makes em FOR their rifles, why look any further. I wanna keep it simple for her for at least a while and standard battle sights from Armalite will do the trick.

I can't make the call on that bud but if you email Armalite, they are usually very fast with responses to questions and I have had numerous dialogues with them on several subjects.

If you want an Armalite sight that WILL fit, no questions or worries, email them, tell them what you have and they will probably get back to you with a link to the very product you want very quickly.

Of course, there are guys on here that have probably tried the exact product you have linked but I'm not one of em so I tend to play it safe with my money and my weapons and go straight to the source.

Got some damn well informed and experienced rifle guys on here though so don't consider me an authority on it.

Just my opinion...

That should work. Armalite sells the exact same one one their website. If you have any doubts, as Sharkey said call or email Armalite.

If you have a railed forend on your AR10, you do have another option. You can use a standard front BUIS and mount it on the end of the rail - the forend rail and the receiver rail are the same height. You give up a couple of inches of sight radius, but it really opens up your choices.

my conversation with armalite
me:I recently bought an ar10tcbnf and same plane open sights made by magpul, but as you know that didnt work. so i found gas block model for the ar15/m16 for gas block that is .270" lower than upper. mctar-ffg by midwest industries will this work?

armalite:If you have the 10TCBNF then it has slots on the front of the free float handguard that accepts rails. If the rail is mounted on the top, you can use your same plane sights. See the link below. Below the handguard in the link are the rails offered. The last rail is for the bottom of the handguard only

me: I would rather have a gas block mounted sight. And would like to know what my choices are.

armalite: Your only option is the EX3406 rear and EX3404 front flip-up sights. These can be located on our website.

aren't these the same thing?
