I'm going to buy the Ar10A4 here shortly, but I had one question first. Those of you who changed the fore end out for a railed system; what length did you use? There are options all ranging from 9 - 13". Is it a 12" fore end? And if you did swap out for a railed system, which did you go for? I was looking at this YHM one.... Thanks for your help and responses.
If you go with the drop in set you'll need 12 inchers. If you go free float then you have lots of options for length. MI has top quality stuff for the AR-10 and a phone call to them will make sure you get what your looking for. I went the cheap route myself, bought a used KAC set on ebay and modified them to fit my AR-10. They are not solid enough to mount sighting devices but they work fine for flashlights, bi-pods and fore-grips.
I put a Troy TRX 308 Extreme Armalite Battlerail it is 13.8 inches long it fits my AR just right. One thing though you either have to buy a new low profile gas block or do some grinding on the orignal to modifie it so the rail will fit over, all in all i love the rail system comes with extra rails so you can chose from Bi-rail to quad-rail i put on a bypod on mine and fits just right

did you get a new gasblock? Or do the grinding method?
If you are going to do this why not buy the one from the Armalite web site? You'll get one you don't have to do mods on and if you get the wrong one to start with send it back, but if you call to order it they make sure you get the right one and support if something don't work.
The price is about the same as the others and less work is more gun time.
