Old New Guy Here ,
Thank you for this site / format . I have a post listed as " new purchase " in the forum but have only one reply to date .
I'm looking at the AR10A4F and also the AR10TNF rifles -have not really considered a carbine but open to suggestion . Weight has me concerned . I read on another site that a fellow loved his .308 AR but said it was like carrying around a railroad tie !!
welcome,
things can be kind of slow around here as most of us actually spend time off the internet enjoying our weapons, unlike some other forums out there.
Weight concerns are an individual matter. I'm not getting into physical fitness, as that is a whole discussion on its own, but it does have a lot to do with what "heavy" means to you.
I have a few friends that geared their AR10 builds for shaving as much off as possible. The end result is a very handy weapon that closely follows the original intent behind the design. "feel" has a lot to do with it as well. With the front heavy, off-balance, nature of the beast I have had people tell me my sass was too heavy, while at the same time pledging preference for their NM M1A that was 3-4 pounds heavier.
With the AR10, we have the benefit of modularity and near limitless customization. Decide first what you want out of it, what you will do most with it, and plan accordingly.
