just purchased my first dpms rifle. i chose the lite hunter in .308. im looking for info on what grain bullet groups the best with a 1 in 10 barrel twist. does anyone have any imput on this rifle? any help would be appreciated. thanks, matt
I don't own this rifle but in my 308 armalites I stick with Hornady
168 grain AMAX. I use Hornady mainly because they are readily available for reloading in my area. 165 gr do fine too. I haven't tried anything else.

nodragging,
Every rifle, even rifles that appear identical (i.e. same twist rate, same barrel length, same manufacturer, etc., etc.), react differently to the same ammo. Consequently, I'd recommend you buy a box of each of the ammo you are interested in shooting and see what groups the best in your rifle. Just because certain ammo groups well in one rifle does not ensure it will group well in another. Also, some rifles shoot the cheap ammo better than the expensive match ammo. Do your own testing of ammo for your rifle. Yes, it may take some time, effort, and expense, but this is the ONLY way to know what will shoot well in YOUR rifle.

Hey Matt what are you hunting? How long of shots are going to be taking? Whats the weather like hot, cold dry or wet? Once you have that figured out then it's easier to sugjest a bullet weight.
Like justme said we can't tell what will work for sure, but maybe we can get on to paper faster.
As far as ammo goes Black hills is good, place to start and if your reloading then I am also a big fan Hornady.
