first off i have the Ar10 carbine.. ive read some old post with a question that never got answered. Was about 1st round flyers? was talking bout the first round coming out the gun being being a random shot? never heard this before and was wondering if anyone knew what its about? something id like to know before im sighted in on a deer or hog or somesort..
1. First round flyer?
2. Whats the free float gonna give me? Not understanding what it will do to help accuracy? first thing im gettin is a tac. rail. if the free float will be my best option i will save up more money and get it over just a rail.
3. Any one have any luck with a raised scope mount to see under for open sights? or maybe a sight that would or could go on side of tac. rail? never seen one like that other a laser.
4. last one little dumb question i should know. To load a single bullet.. ive got som Fedral blue box soft point, has the lead tip and not gonna run them thru like normal.. just wonderin how id do it, is it ok to pull charging handle back and lock it then load and let it slide back down? just wanna make sure ill do it right.
Thanks again..
1. First round flyer. I own two AR-10s and haven't experienced this. I'm guessing it's due to somebody loading their barrel up with oil, or leaving the muzzle cap on.
2. Free float handguard. It keeps you from bending the barrel with a rest or a handy sling on the forend (yes, it can be done). In the real world it gets you 1/4 to 1/2 MOA better accuracy (YMMV).
3.
Expensive Sights
With training it works and can be a very quick to transition.
It's pretty typical to see mini red dots like docter, burris fastfire, JPoint, and the aimpoint T1 Set into 45deg mounts on the upper or piggy back mounts on the scope that have been canted to see between the turrets. This configuration is generally more on the tactical side.
google 3 gun sights and shop around, there are several options.
4. Yeah, go for it. think about how much slamming back and forth happens when the weapons cycles during firing.... If the bolt going forward was a bad thing, we would all be in trouble.
