While not new to the black gun community in general, I am a proud new owner of my first chambered in 7.62

Waited almost 7 months to find one, but just picked up a pretty little AR-10 A4 Target with the 24" stainless barrel and 2 stage match trigger. It has the green furniture.

I have numerous posts on AR15.com but think I'll be lurking around this forum a lot. Hopefully I'll have pictures to put up soon followed by many, many questions and maybe some answers...

Welcome to the forum...can't wait to see the pics of your new AR10. Your going to love the way she shoot's. Mine has the 24" Stainless barrel as well...and I was more than happy with my first trip to the range.

I'M A NEW B also and a happy owner of the same but with a 20"

I will tell you the BAD BAD thing about the AR-10 , I got some expensive
Bolt rifles that I've collected over the years some are considered as a
Bench shooters and are pretty accurate ,
To get the long story short the black sheep or in my case the green sheep
Came to my house and with a few tests on the reloading table and the green
RIFLE with his inaccurate semi feed is doing what the bolties do and doing the same
Groups but faster.

I'll tell you this ugly rifles sure do some impressive shooting.

Best loads I've got so far are with 55 gr pills A-Max from hornady with IMR 4064 and
Lapua brass. Best group from .35 to .65 MOA.

Thank you for the welcomes everyone!
I am paintently waiting on a scope. There is a gun show this weekend in Greenville at the convention center and will be a real good chance to see and handle all the options for eyes. This will be a learning experience as the last time I did any real long distance shooting was 15 years ago with a bolt gun (700+ yards). I have primarily focused on IDPA, pistol, and 3 gun competitions, but got the urge to do the distance thing again.

I have a couple of eotechs & 4x scopes and it has taken all I could to hold back not throwing one on and head to the range!! LOL

I will get pics up as soon as I get the scope on.

55gr projectiles from a .308? seems awfully small. why not just shoot .223?
