CAUTION: DO NOT USE OR TRY LOADING THE LOADS DISCUSSED IN THIS ARTICLE! :naughty:
This is an interesting article on the development of the M118LR and the Mk316 Mod 0 military match rounds. As the article states many of the hand loads discussed cause unsafe pressures. The end result of these experiments was the MK316 Mod 0. The Mk316 Mod 0 is similar to Federal GMM 7.62x51. It is interesting from a historical perspective and if you shoot the M118LR or MK 316 Mod 0 or FGMM you can trace the development of these rounds.

Good read. Had to back up and read part one as well. In Afghanistan, we always had trouble getting M118LR for our DMRs. They usually had to go with de-linked M80 Ball, which irked me to no end.
By the time of my last tour in 05-06, we had transitioned to 5.56 for our DMRs and they used a modified M16A4 (adjustable stock, ff rail system, match barrel and trigger) usually with an ACOG. I cut a drug deal with some of the JSOTF guys, so I had plenty of Mk 262 Mod 0 and Mod 1 for them.
