I am considering this rifle. Anyone own one, care to comment/review it? At the price I am looking long and hard before I leap, but it is at the top of my list. Any comments on the national match are appreciated.
Also, what would be an good aftermarket collapsible stock recommended to easily fit AR10?

Putting a collapsible stock on a NM-level rifle isn't a very good idea. All collapsible stocks have a little wobble in them, making it a bit more difficult to get the rifle snugged up and locked into the pocket of your shoulder. Since collapsible stocks are normally intended for carbine type ARs, you would have to replace the receiver extension, buffer and buffer spring as well. Some companies like Magpul and ACE sell stock kits with everything you need to accomplish the task.
NM rifles tend to have thicker barrels than non-NM ones. By installing a collapsible stock on a NM rifle you will unbalance the rifle, making it noticably nose heavy. You would also notice an increase in felt recoil because of the (now) lighter stock.
A good solution is the Magpul PRS line of stocks. It's fully adjustable for LOP and comb height. It weighs a bit more than the standard stock, so it helps balance the rifle. It also allows you to install it without having to replace anything else.
Dude,
don't listen to the nay sayers. Get what you want.
I own the very rifle you are asking about. I bought the upper online, yes the medium contour stainless match grade barrel 1:10 twist blah blah blah and paired it with the 6 position collaspable stock and the tactical 2 stage trigger.
I love this friggin' rifle. period. I took it easy at first to let everything work in from the barrel to the action. It shoots under 1 moa. The trigger is just a fine as any I have ever touched, but it started out a bit rough but worked in nicely.
Yes it is a tad heavy with this barrel. It's a man's gun no doubt about it, but it doesn't bother or affect me whatsoever. If weight is going to be a problem, Armalite makes a model in 223 also. The stock does have a small amount of wiggle in it but it is awful nice to shorten it up when its cold and I've got 4 layers on and then let it out when it creeps back into the 60/70s.
One caution, they are loud. Really loud. You won't notice while your behind it. But I clear the line everytime I'm on the range. They all wind up behind me, it's funny.
I am currently shooting offhand with iron sights. Off the bench with a scope was a joke with mine. I can still keep it under 2 inches at 200 yards offhand with iron.
Bottom line-I have had 0 problems- it eats everything I feed it from factory to reloads and does it with class. I'd sleep with it if she'd let me. Hope this helps.
1. Read all the armalite literature on thier website.
2. Follow the break in armalite prescribes.
With my 10, I noticed the trigger was a bit gritty but around 250 rounds it smoothed out and its perfect. No creep, no overtravel, I love it. Yes I did the clean the bore ordeal, mostly because they said to, but I can say that I've changed my tune regarding that. I followed it for the match barrels, and the last 350 rounds I put through it, there wasn't any fouling. Very little powder fouling either. It didn't start that way, the first rounds, every shot was very dirty but it got less and less as I followed the breakin. I also was careful not to get the barrel hot and let it cool down thoroughly. I don't feel there is a good reason at the moment anyway to get things smoking hot. If the zombies storm the fence, well that is different. I tend to stay away from certain powders. A guy at the range had his gum up pretty bad. We figured out it was from unburned powder entering the gas tube. He switched back to stick powder and hasn't any further issues. I prefer varget or 4895 with 168's. Good luck, keep us posted.
The Magpul UBR stock is collapsible and lockable once length is set and darn good looking to boot. You'll need a shorter buffer for it, see Slash at AR15.com for this.
