So I am reading that the army has purchased a large quantity of 300 wm ammo and is changing receivers and barrels to change the M110 from 7.62 to 300 wm as snipers need the longer range in afghanistan in a semiauto. Anybody know anything about this, and more to the point are any manufacturers looking at offering this to the public(hint to armalite)? An AR10 T in 300 wm be awsome!
Well that figures...those jackles...I thought ArmaLite did offer the AR-10 in a 300...it was the ultra mag...I think it was called...but I am not sure on that...some one in the gallery has the pic of one..
The AR-30 comes in a 300 wmg...hmmm...will be interested to see what the office is going to think on this one...I hope they go for the throat....sorry just don't like KAC....

Actually the army is changing out the bolts on their M24 sniper rifles to 300 Win Mag. These bolt action guns are now being envisaged as being paired up with a spotter equipped with a M110 in 7.62. Should be a potent tandem.
Since Winchester, Benelli and Browning all make nice hunting rifles that shoot the 300wm even the 338, it seems that an accurate AR10 type platform in 300wm would be useful to the army, and possible. faster f/u shots, much less kick without the need for a muzzlebrake . The 300wsm and rsaum just arent the same as the big magnum round.
What I don't get is why someone with Master Level CNC Armourer experience just doesn't machine and upper and lower just a little larger to accept the .300RUM and .338RUM (or .300WM) cartridges?
It's obviously 'do-able' from a CNC point of view, the tech exists and the laws of physics haven't changed, so other than a couple extra pounds added (which would be worth being able to pack that kind of super long range firepower), what's the beef?
Look near the top of the page and they show 300 WIN MAG.
The rifle in 300WM would be the way togo for Reloading:),Shoulder,Wallet.I would
hope that it's cheaper than the 338 Lapua.I've just scoped my rifle AR-10 rifle
and I'm looking forward to a set of Troy irons sites.
