ANY OF YOU FOLKS INTERESTED IN THE AR-10. THERE ARE HORROR STORIES GOING AROUND IN GUN STORES(WHO SHOULD KNOW BETTER) AND ON THE NET THAT THE AR-10 IN UNDERBUILT FOR THE CARTRIDGES IT TAKES. ONE SO-CALLED MAVEN AT A LOCAL GUN STORE INFORMED TWO COPS WHO WERE SHOPPING FOR RIFLES FOR THEIR UNITS THAT "THE AR10 IS A BAD DEAL. THE DESIGN WAS ORIGINALLY MADE FOR .223 AND ENLARGING IT FOR .308 CREATED A BUNCH OF PROBLEMS" WHEN ASKED WHAT THE PROBLEMS WERE, THE SALESMAN REPLIED,"OH STUFF JUST BREAKS ALL THE TIME." TO CORRECT; THE AR10 WAS INITIALLY BUILT AS A 7.62X51 RIFLE(308). (IT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY DOWNSIZED FOR THE AIR FARCE FOR USE BY ZOOMIE SECURITY PERSONELL. BOBBY MACNAMARA, THEN THE SEC OF DEFENSE, LIKED THE GUN AND ORDERED ALL OF THE ARMED FORCES TO ADOPT THE RIFLE AS THE M-16. AFTER FORTY YEARS, THE M16 FINALLY WORKS OKAY AND IS ACCURATE, BUT IT STILL LACKS PUNCH.) THE WORD IN THE MARINES WHEN THE M16 WAS FIRST FOISTED OFF ON US WAS "YOU CAN TELL IT'S MATTEL, IT'S SWELL." THE AR10 WAS SOLD TO A FEW FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS AND WAS USED WITH EXCELLENT RESULTS IN SUCH GARDEN SPOTS AS VARIOUS AFRICAN CONFLICTS, ETC. IN MY OPINION IT IS THE BEST MILITARY ARM YET, AFTER THE O3A3 SPRINGFIELD. I DO NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND THE AR10 TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING ONE. YOU'LL NEVER LOOK BACK.

Agreed, The AR-10 is a very solid rifle platform. Pictures have shown the are now being deployed with US forces. Every aspect of my AR-10T has functioned without flaw. My only wish would be for the price to be less!

Agree on the price issue, but I tend to look at purchases in this way, for the majority of the time "you get what you pay for". Paying more is not always the best, but...I've got friends that will buy a cheaper pistol, and wonder why it doesn't go bang all the time, or why they can't hit a can with it.

Mr. Alexander has finally fixed the ar15 platform's wimpyness with the 6.5 grendel. I feel
one in my distant future as they are around 1500 for a flat top and 3200 for the top of the
line. I can remember stories from WWll vets as a kid about germans hiding behind trees
and they would just shoot 4 or five round into the tree until the guy fell over with the 06's.
It stuck and I never was impressed with a round Ca. doesn't even feel is adequate to take
down a black-tail. The grendel answers the ammo weight problem to a great degree so the
women can carry their full battle pack when necessary. It would be nice to see armalite
put a line of grendel chambered ar's out.
