After Uncle A's comment about his lovely wife...and my response...it got me to thinking...what do WE all have to put up with, with our wives or girlfriends or counter parts...(how ever you describe your love)...
Oh this sound like a support group session...HAHAHAHAHA

I know mine gets on me about how much time I spend on the site and playing with my guns...and how I will avoid "her list" and go shooting or look at guns at the local shop....I always tell her, well I could be in the bar or at the strip joint.....Yeah right...I would rather "strip" my ARs and clean and tinker with them. ;)
So my brothers...what do you have to endure with your loved one...
Come on...you know you want to let it out....  :silly: :woohoo:

Actually, my love (19yrs) was more worried why they didn't make red leather carry purse to fit her S&W 642. She shoots with me at least once a month but of course, I do all the cleaning. Doesn't come out to my workshop without announcement first on the intercom. Doesn't give a hoot that I smoke a cigar or 2 a day and wants her own Kimber Ultra Carry II because she likes shooting mine so well.

But that's just me. I'm blessed to have wed a SMsgt who just returned from Afghan after 6 months of duty as a 1st shirt. She's qualified on the .223 and has her own M-9 she likes to use now and then. But it's too large for her purse so she keeps it in her Tiger Holster System in the bed holster.

Well, not being married any more, I may not be qualified to answer. But when I was dating my future ex-wife, we went shooting almost every weekend and until the kids started coming along after we got married. She always wanted to shoot my .357 Python. Most of the time at least 100 rounds worth.
Now my daughter shoots with her friends when she gets the chance and has the money to buy some ammo.
I guess I was lucky to have had a wife that enjoyed shooting. ( and was glad she didn't decide to shoot at me because she was a good shot too)

My wife is tolerant of me. I bought her a 'Lady Smith' .357 magnum revolver a few years back. She enjoys shooting that, but doesn't care for semi-autos or my rifles, unless its a .22. My older kids are more 'book worm' types and will go shooting with me once in a while, but its not their favorite thing to do. My younger kids seem to like it more and really enjoy shooting the .22's. I usually make a contest out of it and tell them if they can hit the ram silhouette (about 5" target) at 100 yards with their .22's, I'll buy them an ice cream cone or something. It's gotten to the point that I need to tell them they have to hit it at least 5 times out of 10 to win the ice cream!

I do feel like the luckiest man alive. When I finished my SASS, she told me to hurry and get it zero'd in so she could show me up. Damned if she didn't shoot a smaller group than me. I blame it on my glasses (which of course is bunk)and the fact she is a descendant of Annie Oakly (lol). I had to let her shoot my portugese practice ammo while I shot my Hornady Match ammo just to be closer to her.

Interesting subject...I can't resist...

Some guys like to boast the age-old saying, "I'm a lover, not a fighter."

Well, I am a fighter-not a lover, and as such I shoot much better than I woo, wine, dine, and romance. Thus, I've struck out twice at the marriage plate, and more times than I can count at dating-but I'm still trying...never give up!

I have been in relationships with women on what I see as the three major sides of being supportive of my gun collecting/reloading/shooting hobbies...pro, against and neutral.

My first ex wife was "against". when I say against, I don't mean she was a true anti-gunner. If that were the case, we would have never made it to the altar. Her argument was the cost of my hobby. I don't ever buy anything cheap anymore...if it's not match grade or tactical grade, I don't want it-and everyone here knows what kind of price tags those come with. I did come up with a pretty effective argument in my defense-married guys, take note here...this is good- When the subject of my collection's worth came to debate, I would direct her attention to the vast wasteland that was pretty much every closet in the house, filled with expensive shoes, jewelry, dresses, blouses, and items of clothing, some of which I couldn't identify, and most of which were only worn once or twice before being hauled off to goodwill to make room for the next round of spontaneous clothes shopping-funded primarily by me of course. This argument shut her down every time. (you guys can use that one if you like, but keep in mind that I am not married anymore!)

My second wife was a shooter, and I thought that was great-what she was not was a reloader, and refused to learn. She also refused to replace ammo, and I can't count how many times I "wen't to the cupboard, and the cupboard was bare" on the morning of range day.She also conveniently could not remember how I taught her to clean the guns-at all-no matter how many times I would show her.GRRRR....

My current girlfriend falls into the neutral area. We haven't been together for very long, and she doesn't quite have a full grasp on what it is that I do for a living. We are still in the "new and shiny" faze of this relationship, in which I could walk in the door with any new toy I want, so long as I smile and tell her she is pretty. (WHY can't it ever stay like that?) I will not ever forget, however, the look on her face when she got a peek into the gun safe at the kind of hardware that resides there...it was, to put it in to words..."Oh my God, what in the hell have I gotten myself into?"

After consoling her to the fact that I have no plans to climb a water tower and go postal, she seemed to ease up...but we shall see what the future holds.

Aint' love grand?
