and purchased seventeen boxes of the newest version of Federal 168 gr. Gold Medal Match that they have listed on their website. Their product code is AMM-691. Their add is very specific and states the velocity as 2650 fps. and before ordering online, one of their reps. who said her name was Jan told me they had the ammunition in stock.
When I received my package I only received ONE box of the ammunition I ordered and sixteen boxes of the older ammunition (nine of the orange-ish/brown box and 7 of the even older white box) all of which has the slower velocity of 2600 fps. (printed on the box)
When I called to try and remedy their mistake, they told me ALL of the ammunition was the SAME and refused to send me what I ordered.
As I told the manager, Kevin, I have a hard time believing Federal would mis-label and mis-represent every new box of their Gold Medal Match with the wrong velocities and specs on the rear of the box.
Being that I did receive ONE box of my order and all the rest were wrong I am convinced they pulled the old "bait and switch". I have already talked to the Texas State Attorney Generals office and will be filing a formal complaint. I also contacted my credit card company to have them reverse the charges since I did not receive and they are currently unwilling to send me the items I ordered or allow me to return the wrong items that they sent.
Here is the best part of the story. When I called to let them know about the mistake, before telling Cindy (the rep. who answered the phone) what happened, I asked her if they had any of the ammunition in stock? Part number on their website AMM-691. She said YES! Cindy also told me the ammo was dropped shipped staight from Federal. When I told her what happened she sent a Tech person to check the other boxes in the warehouse. If the ammo was dropped shipped how could the Tech check the "other" boxes in the warehouse? BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!! I will personally never do business with Cheaper Than Dirt agian.
For one, that is why they are on the top of the "Black List" that I started awhile back...we need to make that stick somehow...have to get with the boss...on the other forum I belong to, they have the S---t list...and CTD is on the top of that one too, along with ARMS..
Sorry for you pain TB, but those so called deal warehouses are a bunch of crap..(excuse me) stay to the reputable one, I know sometimes deals are not so hot but as the old saying goes...if it sound to good, well. :dry:
Check out Graf and sons...they usually have good deals...

I e-mailed Federal's tech department to ask about the difference in the older boxes of ammunition with the 2600 fps. listed on the box and the newer ammunition with 2650 pfs. listed on the box. Their tech wrote;
Greetings,
The GM308M load has never changed only the test methods used to
calculate velocities. The published velocities are guides to show the
shooter ballistics that can be achieved. Trajectories will change with barrel length, rate of twist, atmospheric conditions and altitude.
Thank you
So while I will still never do business with Cheaper Than Dirt, due to their businesses practices, I have asked the credit card company to allow payment. I still beleive they pulled a "bait and switch" and I also know atleast one of their reps lied to me. Overall, not the quality of people that I allow in my life.
Thanks for the link to Graf and Sons. I will try them next time.
Since I run the largest non-governmental firearms training entity in Louisiana, I have had to scrape, claw, beg, borrow, and load to try and keep up with ammunition demands for my clients. CTD was the first one to get on my personal blacklist for dishonesty.
There are scores of companies in our business and each has a different business plan with unique levels of resources dedicated to customer service, along with varying abilities to use devoted resources to execute their plan. Some charge well before they ship, while others are slow to issue credits. Still others are difficult to work with on multifaceted arrangements. CTD has been the only one that seems to have dishonesty as a cornerstone of their customer service. It makes me wonder how pricey the dirt is in their neck of the woods.
