I urge all of you to join that are not members of the NRA. Some people have reservations about them, myself included at one time. But the way things are going at this present time, we need everyone's voice and help. I have learned alot about what the government is trying to do, and it worries me and should all gun owners.
Give it some thought.

Probably a good idea. Sometimes I don't feel they push fundamental understanding of the 2nd amendment agressively enough, instead getting into discussions about "hunting" and "sport shooting", and rescinding the 1986 NFA list closure doesn't even seem to be considered an issue. I've also never been happy with what I considered their high volume email/donation pressure.

BUT all that said, they do have a huge influence, and working in concert with other state centric rights organizations, have made a lot of progress on holding and in some cases recovering 2nd amendment rights (heller especially), nothing to sniff one's nose at really. And now more than ever a strong display of membership is needed to help politicians recognize that the NRA isn't just some "gun lobby/industry" cabal, but an expression of millions of people who want their civil rights upheld. And free is good :)

I used to disagree with their never give an inch, never compromise policy. After seeing how the antigun lobbies get us by just that strategy, 1 inch at a time, divide and conquer, I realized the NRA is right. Whether you agree with all their policies or not, realize that their lobby and their ability to mobilize members to call their representatives strikes fear into the hearts of politicians. That is a major reason that the new congress/white house is staying quiet on second amendment issues right now( probably not for long though). If you believe in the second amendment you should be a member of the NRA.
