I've decided that after years and years and years of being an ultralight fisherman I'm going to try my hand at tying on a fly. I kicked off this endevour as many of us do: Googling, YouTubing, and then checking out the current gear at the online retailers.
I asked around and got some advice from locals on whiat size rod and reel to get. It ranged from 4 wt to 6wt and 8' to 9'. At first I picked up a 3 wt 7'6" rod and loved it. If it wasn't for another customer at the store I would have probably brought home a rod that would be good for catching bait.
A friendly customer advised me on my ultimate selection which was a 5 wt Cabelas Three Forks rod and a Cabelas Wind River Size #2 reel. Both incredibly priced.
