HHHMMMMMmmm, I wonder what ever happened to Our old copper wash tub.
It was long enough to cover two burners on the stove. I remember Dad plumbing in the gas for the stove, then an old converted to gas heating unit into the basement. No ducting, just a hole in the floor with a grating over it. When there was wood, out would come the gas contraption and in with the wood/coal grates, then, it was up to Me to pack in the wood, enough to last at least three days. I tripped once, going down the stairs and got skinned up pretty good. Dad then dug out and made a hatch way so I could just throw the wood down into the basement, I wood then have to go into the basement and stack the stuff into a neat pile, no way could that wood have laid there without some sort of an order. Must have had something to do with His Military experiences.
About that same time, as the stove in the basement, He plumbed in the water, from the well in the basement, no hot water, just the cold, and a bath tub too, heat the water in the copper boiling tub, pour it into the bathing tub and add the cold water.
A water heater would come later, much later, I was in middle school before that contraption arrived. :rotfl:
