Rifle Cleaning Help

I have been doing a lot of scrubbing and cleaning on My rifles and pistols, A job that has not been well done for a long time.
Some of the fire-arms I have acquired and new not when they had been last thoroughly cleaned or how much dirt and build-up of grime and old lube would be contained within.
One problem I am having is, I had to strip the furniture of My Uberti 1885 Hi~Wall, 45-70, I have been trying, without success, to get the tongue oil to be a nice shiny finish. I have tried just about everything with no good results. I have now just reinstalled the stocks back on the rifle and called it quits, the finish is not without some uneven spots and a few slight bumps here and there.
I do`nt know, maybe I will try to rub it down with the 0000 steel wool again then throw on a good coat of wax.
I am fresh out of ideas.
Here is the Remington 700 I acquired from My wifes Uncle.
I have it stripped down and am in the process of scrubbing the bore, but, I have a LOT of help and thought I would share a pic. of My helpers. :rotfl:

I did`nt realize the little Mrs. Mousey was into the bore solvent.
I think She got just a taste on Her tongue, but, She was going for more when I caught Her in the act.
I read the ingredients and it said contains Kerosene, with no other ingredients listed. I got Her to lap some water so I think She is OK.
Now laying and sleeping on their crate.
I got to watchum, every minute, even though I have the garage kattin proof for any chemicals, except for what I have out and am using, just for the moment.

ANNNNNnnnd, :I-agree: :funnypost:

I originally thought they would be watching the muzzle end, for the swab to come out, thats what they were doing before I grabbed the cambera. :rotfl:
She must not have injested any of the solvent.
When I got them back to the house, She was just as loving as She can get, at times. :rotfl:

I have a "S~CAT" box all fixed up for them, behind the front seat of My extended cab pickup.
If I am going to be making a few stops around town, I load them up and take them along too.
Really funny if the windshield wipers are needed and running in pause mode.

Kitty~Kattens is in the house so I got out the real good stuff.
I always use regular O~L~Hoppes #9 and scrub the bores until they are "CLEAN", I then get out this stuff and after letting it soak for an hour or two, I usually get a bunch more color on the swabbings.
Made mostly for lead, but I have found it an excellent choice for a deep and thorough cleaning.

OH YEAH, after letting the bore soak in the extreme stuff, I run a patch through the barrel and it did come out a sort of a greyish color, like it had picked some more of the lead out of the bore.
i then grabbed a kattin by the tail and swabbed out the chamber, it worked pretty well. :twothumbs: :cowboy:

A friend that lived down the block.
He had His cat under His arm, head facing to the back, He had the cats tail between His teeth, He`d sort of squeez down on the cats tail, which made the cat YAWLLLL quite loudley, He then would start pumping on the cat, and, the pitch would change, up and down and more weird noises as the squeezes changed in intensity, along with the amount of pressure on the tail.
He had this recorded on His camcorder and He called it His "Kitty-Kat Bag Pipe".
True story, and, no cats was hurt or injured in the making of His video. :busted: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I guess things like that happen when You are a road construction worker and is laid off for the winter. LOL

If I see Him again I will see if I can get Him to give Me a copy, He did move though but He still is in town.

NEXT on the menu to be cleaned:
A sporterizede Springfield 03-A3, a lot of work has been done on this nice rifle.
Timney "Sportsman" Trigger, a 22"-1 in 12 twist. There is no markings at all on the barrel and I do`nt know if it is a machined barrel and then the chamber is reamed out to a .30 Cal 338 magnum or 30-338, or if it is an aftermarket barrel. There is one very slight stamp on the chamber end "G".
The stock fits Me very nicely and it has also been glass bedded. I do`nt know who did all of the work on this but I`d like to, have Him do some more work for Me.
I know it is a very good shooter and it`ll really reach out.
I have the barrel soaking while I am working to install a booooster pump to the lawn sprinkling system.

Them cats did`nt get as high on that as they did when I was working on that sprinkler system, using PVC cleaner and cement. :busted: :rotfl:
I had to go to the store for some fittings, after I got back home, the wifey said that Tubby{the black one} would race from the basement, up the cat tree, back off the cat tree, back into the basement then owl like crazy, race back up the ladder, back up the cat tree, back into the basement, Yowl like crazy and repeat. She thought He was looking for Me, or else, He was pizzd cause I did`nt take Him along. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Danged, I had that barrel plumb clean with the hoppes 9, went after it with that Mt Extreme stuff and it does`nt seem like I will ever get it cleaned up. Push a soaked patch through, give it about ten good licks with the brass brissley, soak the patch, run ut through the bore abd it comes out nasty blackish greyish color, let it soak for a couple of hours and repeat. :whip: :cowboy: :rotfl:
A durn site cleaner`n it was when I first started.
