If you are interested in global pandemics and game theory I can recommend the App Plague Inc by Ndemic Creations.
This "game" allows the player to create a variety of diseases (bacteria, virus, fungi). The goal is to infect everyone on the planet and then kill them before a cure can be found and distributed.
The game designers incorporate geopolitical considerations in addition to common disease spread vectors. For example, if one starts the disease in Iran you will see it spread to N Korea in addition to "neighbors".
For those not interested in standard diseases the game does include the zombie option.

I found Diamonds work heavy on speculation and light on facts. There is a very anti-western feel to the works, kind of like he had an idea and then set about gathering whatever "facts" he could find to support the idea...........
