Lone Survivor is an upcoming 2013 war drama directed by Peter Berg (Battleship). Based on the best-selling book Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 by former U.S. Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, the film stars Mark Wahlberg as Luttrell, who was a member of an ill-fated SEAL reconnaissance team that was ambushed in the mountains of northeastern Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings on June 28, 2005. The film also stars Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Eric Bana, and is set for a limited release on December 27, 2013 with a wider release on January 14, 2014.

The following weapons were used in the film Lone Survivor:

My wife went this last weekend , she was disturbed by the violence. Her sister went with her, her son has done tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, she said it really helped her put what he has said in perspective. The whole situation these men were placed in makes me angry with the government. We were promised it would not be "another Vietnam".
They sure sound like similar situations for the troops involved, damned if they do and dead if they don't...... :soapbox:

I've always loved miniguns. I'm interested to see their role in Lone Survivor.

My favorite movie scene from any movie is when the Little Bird's roll in with miniguns in Black Hawk Down

Had a very hard time watching Blackhawk Down.........was overseas in support of a lot of actions when that took place.

Anyrate,.......Back to Lone Survivor. Damn good movie, honest to a lot of things that did not go how they were supposed to. I saw it at a private screening with a bunch of Air Force 10th ASOS guys. I generally spend twenty years flying all over the world, working on aircraft. Rarely got shot at, only had to shoot back once, and that was enough for me. I have all the respect in the world for troops that have been in combat. I personally know a Scout Sniper, my Uncle was UDT in Vietnam. I can admit, I would not be able to stay in the fight like they did.

I now it was a movie, but it was a movie about real shit. :usa:

Just had the privileged of watching Lone Survivor. Having read and listened to Marcus's story in the past I was a little bummed they didn't stick closer to the real deal, maybe Wahlberg didn't want to go pant-less.
I guess it was a movie and not a documentary. I didn't realize Luttrell actually had an acting part in it, that made me happy ;)
I couldn't help but be a little choked up at the end when they went through the list of the men involved, they all did us proud. :usa:

One of my riding buddies here in Sarasota was in that Mogadishu deal..... He's a Silverstar recipient.... He led an army unit that relieved a Marine Corps unit in a bad situation..... The commandant gratefully pinned him himself...
That's a double honor I believe..... He's one of our better grand chefs in Sarasota now.......

Well I just saw the movie and have to give it only the highest of marks. Makes on to be proud of being an American and a TEXAN!!!!!!

It was a tuff watch at the end after he had been rescued, WOW, punched my gut hard.

I stood up and applauded and then everyone else joined in, but no one was talking as we all left.
