So if you hit a block of wood dead center from below, then hit a block of wood from below with the same rifle NOT center, would the off center block travel as high as the center hit block?
I have a question. With the first block, with the bullet traveling vertically, imparting energy to the block even after the block leaves the rest, until the bullet stops it's travel, it would leave basically a straight path into the block. With the off center block, since the block starts spinning on initial contact, does the bullet leave a curved path inside the block?
Well I'm not sure, but I don't think it will take a curved path because things in motion like taking the path of least resistance. A straight path would be less resistant than a curved path.
I was thinking a straight path through a spinning object would leave a curved path. Although, in the split second that the bullet spent in there, the curve would be very minimal.
