No,.......he was arrested for firing a warning shot at the "would be" robber outside.
He flubbed up, now he pays the price.

That it is,......if he would have waited until the guy breached to door, he could have justifiably killed the robber. All would have been good then.

Crazy crap.....fire a warning shot, save a life and get locked up.

My state passed the "Castle Doctrine" last year that basically allows you to use a firearm in self defense on your own property if you feel physically threatened. In Minnesota, unless they have changed, you had to " retreat " even if the intruder was in your house, and only use a firearm as a last resort. I think they may have passed a castle doctrine law as well. I certainly hope so.

I could swear I heard the VP mention something about firing a warning shot...............
These are the issues that the NRA should pull out all the stops on and help, call it the Biden defense! :usa:

Indeed Sir. And good call. 25 years ago, I believed in warning shots. Now? Well, I've said enough...

Maybe waiting for the perp to break into your house and then killing him is the answer society is trying to teach us.Why do you think some LEO people carry unregistered guns and knife's?????

Apparently the guy who was breaking in was walking away when the shot was fired, according to the police.

Whatever.

I've never like the idea of warning shots. To much danger of collateral damage, period. They say in the other article that's linked on that page that:

"Unlike bullets from handguns, police say firing bullets from assault rifles can skip."

Bull. Bullets from handguns 'skip' just as well. Same with shot.

If your bullet doesn't have a reasonable chance of hitting your target, don't fire.
