Indeed. And light, too. One thing that's always impressed me about it is the lack of perceived recoil when you consider it only weighs 8 pounds or so. Depending on the optics one uses, you could easily stay under 10 pounds loaded with a 20 round mag. They are sweet shooters!

Leb, here's a link that has Scar 17 mags for $40 each. Not helping your sales resistance, am I?LebbenB wrote: I was at the PX gun counter yesterday and they had just gotten a new shipment in. One of the new pieces of inventory was an FN Mk 17 SCAR-H.
Somebody talk me out of buying it. My family and friends aren't helping any. My son's all for me buying it, but he has an agenda - He thinks that if I buy the Mk 17, then he can swoop in and take the rifle that currently occupies the "Heavy Carbine" slot in my gun safe, the Armalite AR10. Which is his favorite rifle after his POF.
The only thing that's really holding me back is the current cost of magazines - $70 each.

Late '11 or early '12, AAFES started allowing PX's to have a firearms section, in accordance with local/state laws. Here at Sill it's proven to be a pretty popular decision.
In addition to the lack of a sales tax, guns are usually sold at distributor price plus 1 or 2 per cent (At least that's how Sill runs theirs.) So a Soldier/Marine/retiree can save quite a bit of coin. I recently picked up a Sig 226 Mk 25 9mm pistol with night sights for around $800 OTD.
Since you're down around San Antonio, might be worth the trip to Bliss' PX. Bliss has an Infantry BCT there now, so I imagine odds are pretty good that they have a gun counter.
You know how Grunts love them some personally owned firepower.
