The gravity of the situation

Hello all I own a ar10t in a .338 federal. Love every thing about it except the 14lbs of rifle. I use it primary as a big pig gun, in south central TX, so quick target acquisition is defiantly a bonus. Any thoughts on how to make this a little Easyer on me. I'm a pretty beefy dude however lumping around the thing on over night hunts is pretty hardcore. I'm looking for advice and preferred big pods. The Harris swivle 13.5 - 27" big pod for prone and sitting, primos trigger shooting sticks, and slings.

I'm either trying to use the gear to stabilize on the ground or ideally be able to more accurately shoulder the weapon.

I'm running a ergo grip w palm shelf, prs magpul stock, vortex crossfire ii 3-9 x50 scope on a Burris ar PEPER mount and a vortex sparc red dot on a d defense off set , with a butler creek comfort stretch sling. 22" stainless steel barrel chambered in the 338 federal. Would a 3 pt tactical sling be better or is it just going to cut into me

I'd mount it in the door of a helicopter :) Would be much easier than hauling it around on your shoulder and much easier on the feet.

I know been trying to plant the evil seeds of helicopter hunting to the ranch owners... just need to get someone to fly it ... a more realistic idea that we have talked about is swivel mounting it onto the roll bar of one of the rangers...

You could replace the stock and pistol grip with lighter ones to save a little weight. Going back to the OEM stock and pistol grip would save 2-3 lbs or so.

As for slings, I'm not a fan of three point slings - all those straps and buckles always got hung on my gear. I think the best thing going right now is a 2 point sling with quick adjust. Blue Force Tactical makes (IMO) a very good one with a padded section so it doesn't cut into the shoulder.
