I'm sick to my stomach at this point guys. A man I've become friends with who claimed to be a retired Air Force General, flew SR71s, over 300 missions over Nam in F105s and has fished with a vast number of guys I know and talked with ALL of them about his Military record has turned out to be a complete liar.

He used his "guise" to obtain info on many people I know, many vets, and has posed as at least one OTHER vietnam vet online, and apparently has no military record at all although he DOES allegedly have a police record which I am checking in to.

He is one VERY smart and VERY knowledgable SOB with vast military knowledge about the vietnam war (which I was not in) and also aircrafts, as well as the business world.

Per chance, I bumped into a site called "Fake Warriors" and boom, there his name was and many details about him including the fact that he just moved to Austin Texas which I knew about.

What IS it with these scumbags?

One link I saw had him running this scam all the way back to 1996 and was talking with that guy for 3-4 years and even pretended to BE him online for a while. I've been talking with him for over 2 and what made me start looking for stuff was when I found the SR71 sight with all pilots and crews listed and his name was nowhere to be found - it took me quite some time to even get him to give me his real name but I told him my sons wanted to send him some cards they made with pictures of jets drawn on them and he reluctantly gave me his name but a Pak Mail mail box address instead of a real one.

I'm so damn sick of
A. People pretending to be things they are not for their amusement and/or personal and financial gain and
B. Getting to know people through forums like this and they turn out to be full of frickin crap. Why can't guys just be who they are standing face to face rather than take on these stupid personas so they can "tough guys" or whatever. It's ridiculous.

I keep my life, my past and my current situation pretty damn close to the cuff and then, once in a blue moon you actually start talking to someone and bam, they are a POS.

Anyone wants links and info on a liar who claims what I have listed above who lives in the Austin Texas area, you just let me know. I'll hook you up.

Sorry for the rant guys but (we) vets earn our damn scars and stripes and when a scab like this turns up, it just truly burns my ass.

God Bless our men (and women) of honor who have served in the past, serve now, and will serve in the future - and may hell just get a fresh load of propane the day the posers arrive.

Rant complete.

just Damn.

folks like that I don't get. I just can't get my head around it, why someone would do that. if they focused all that time and effort it takes to construct these scams into something honest, they could likely do well anyway. my mind just goes blank trying to even understand the behavior.

Amazingly, some of the guys I've spoken to have known him literally for years. The one guy who "endorsed" him to me is a 30 year retired Navy Diver who had fallen for his line of crap.

He is THAT slick with it all. I've never met him in person myself and am trying to obtain a photo of him. To date, all of our conversations have been via internet and telephone since he "travels a lot" and is always talking about coming in my direction to do some more fishing but something has always come up. I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones that never talked with him face to face and fell for it.

He's a 65 year old man with some VERY convincing lies and apparently "appears" the part so he has fooled a crap load of people with this scam.

I'm sure it won't end any time soon but at least, between myself and a few others, we'll put an end to it within our crew and he'll need to move on.

This guy in no Nigerian sending "pleaze to take my advise" as the head of the FBI. This is a real guy, walking around slinging this crap and he is very smart, knowledgeable and convincing.

By the way, Happy Veteran's Day men. Proud to have served. Grateful for those who also have, do and will in the future.

Another good website for outing fakes, phonies and posers is the milblog, "This Ain't Hell." Funny stuff. Some of the bloggers over there are hilairious in their analyses of poser antics.

The damn internet is filled with sites to do it. Seems a damn shame that so much time needs to taken up just to keep up with a pack of liars.

I've got no volition to go chasin this puke all over the internet over this. I only wanted to mention some of what this guy claims on here in case anyone recognized his bull.

I believe he mainly sticks to fishing sites and other sites where most posters are NOT primarily military oriented and then feels things out as he goes.

I was an 11B back in the early 80s so pretty much all I knew about jets was how to identify em anyway. He'd been a member of the other site since 2007 so he was at it for 5 years before it was figured out so he is definitely one slick POS.

I don't mean to run crap over from anywhere else and no disrespect intended however, these types are something for us all to keep eyes out for.

If you are really upset, turn him in to this organization and watch him do some jail time.

Partner I’ve met soooo many of these posers it ain’t funny. I used to teach at the College of Oceaneering in LA Harbor CA. Obviously a school for young men in their prime seeking a commercial diving career. We had an instructor there named Steve *******. He was an ex Navy Seal. So many young guys would claim to be former SEALS.
I used to just love it when I’d introduce them as a fellow SEAL to Steve. I’d just stand there and watch the berating begin. One guy tried to walk out the door and at 6’ 1” and in my fighting prime I blocked the door and said BOY…a fellow SEAL is speaking to you!!! Steve ripped them a new one!!! Afterwards Steve was always pissed but I just laughed my ass off as they slithered away.
This weekend I was acting Range Officer ( I say acting because I’m not a real one) at a class south east of Dallas. A guy claimed to be a former Ranger. The firearms instructor was a former Ranger Medic. I guess there are different Battalions of Rangers like there are Teams of Seals. When Mike asked what BAT he was with the look of horror on his face said it all. Mike was kind as the guy was a customer in his class but all of us knew immediately what was going on. Same class different guy told me he has been in three fire fights in his life. One at 14, one at 16 where he killed a home intruder, and one at 19 where he killed another man. Mike had told the class in the introductions that I was former Coast Guard. The man asked me how many fire fights I had been in. I said never a single one. In ten years only had to draw my firearm twice and even then only thought I might have to shoot just once and it turned out I didn’t. Told him I also never killed anyone. Much less two. And everyone of my LEO friends (of which there are many) I know of none that actually had to kill someone. It’s just not something people who really had to do it don’t talk about. I think he got the message I was calling his bull shit without actually saying it. Two guys, one class this weekend. It’s more prevalent than ya think.
I’m pretty sure it has to do with a low self confidence /self esteem issue. Guys wishing they were Rambo or just wanting the admiration of others.
Just for the record:
I have never been a war hero
I have never made love to Parris Hilton (although I do have her autograph, she got one of my puppy’s)
I’ve never flown a F22 Raptor. Climbed Mount Everest, or beat Mike Tyson.
And my pecker is not 14”. Although when I’m drunk I tell my wife it is.
“She just tucks me in and sure it is honey, go to sleep” Damn I love her!

You don't have to scold me about doing my part bud. I've been doing my part my whole damn life. As for turning the guy in, I haven't messed around with these internet people. I've been in touch with the feds with it since, as it turns out, they are already familiar with him as he's done time in RI and has apparently been on their radar before.

All I said was I had no intention of chasing him all over the damn internet. Not that I wasn't going to do anything. There's a differene.

There will always be mooks hanging around in bars and all over the place making their little claims of "having been there" or whatever and the percentage of them are just harmless little wannabes with nothing but shyte to back em up. This guy is different and does this stuff VERY well and, I believe, with a specific purpose in mind which is why internet poser sites are just too good for him. He's gonna have some problems and they are gonna have my name all over em.... Make no mistake.

I don't think he was scolding you. I read it that he was encouraging folks to take action. that's all.

Here's something funny. Had a get together with some of the guys from my platoon (WOOF! I do not feel so bad about letting myself go). anyway, we head out, do some bar hopping, find ourselves a ratty little biker dive and let me tell ya, after that much rotgut the B.S. was so deep a whole turkey jerky selling seal team could not have made it out unscathed with dry suits and re-breathers.
I don't remember much, but I think some where in between "I love you buddy" and "lets start a bar fight" we had convinced ourselves that we single handedly stabilized all of anbar province. I can not hold my liquor like I used too.
