Nice deer. Your season opens real early. Florida's doesn't open until Thanksgiving weekend.
It's nice that Texas lets you hunt with a can on your rifle. They won't let us use cans here for hunting. I wrote to our Wildlife Dept and to my State Rep about TX legalizing them for hunting and saying it would save our hearing, etc. and they said no. People somehow think that silencers are evil and that if you own one, crime will go up, etc., etc. Just another example of ignorance. It's people that are bad not guns.
Also noticed you are using a 20 round clip which is also illegal in FL. We can only use a 5 round clip.
Yeah this feller never knew what hit him...just straight up stoned him in his tracks, dead before he hit the ground. I, on the other hand, had to drag him about 500 yards through brush so thick that a four wheeler wasn't an option, and that really sucked. Never the less, such are the perils of deer hunting, and tonight he revisited me in the form of a venison burger that was delicious. :twothumbs:
Yeah JustMe...It really surprised the hell out of me when the TX dept. of Wildlife announced that they had lifted that law. (about suppressors.) I think the argument in favor of using them that wound up being successful had to do with not bothering other people with the gunshots, spooking cattle, etc. I can also recall when I was a kid that there used to be ammo count restrictions here as well, and if I recall it was no more than 5 rounds in the weapon...but that went away somewhere down the line as well. Texas Dept. of Wildlife puts out a little guide every year with updated laws, county restrictions, season dates, etc...they give it to you for free when you get your licence, which is pretty nice since it keeps you from having to hunt around online or elsewhere to find out what's what, and it also keeps the rumor mill at bay. We are fortunate here in the regards that Texas has some pretty lax laws concerning firearms and hunting laws...our state is very predominantly pro-gun...but that is changing. Predictions have been made that Texas might well becomee a blue state by the next election ,and I'm sure if that happens we will start to see a change in the gun laws here. We'll keep voting and saber rattling as long as we can, but it is a sad and scary thing to have to constantly be on watch just to maintain your constitutional rights...I just hope we can keep the dogs at bay, so that my boy can enjoy the same privileges I had growing up, and he can own guns, shoot freely and hunt deer.
Sharkey...never heard of eating the hearts, but it interests me. Do you have any recipes you're willing to share for that? I'll try anything once...especially if it means more food and not wasting anything from an animal I kill.
