My lucky little brother won a Mossberg 4x4 270 rifle in a raffle. We sighted it in this last weekend and I have to say I was impressed. It is a very light rifle with a very nice trigger, surprisingly crisp for adjustable triggers I've tried. It has a pencil thin fluted barrel so I didn't expect fantastic groups but it held its own as a hunting rifle. He kept a box of shells all in a 10 inch circle at 300 yards and he didn't wait around for the barrel to cool or anything. It kept all the five shot groups within 2 inches at 100 yards. We were shooting from a lead sled on a bucket so with a decent bench and some optics better that his $50 3x9 it was more than adequate for his investment.
It also showed me how spoiled I was with my AR-10, I kept waiting for it to load the next round but it never did
My rifles groups were always half what the Mossberg was but then I paid a bit more. It is no comparison to an Armalite but was nice enough to make me share my experience.
