First off, I apologize. I'm the OP and never got out to the theater to see the movie. In my defense I note that I don't have a lot of spare time. My "fun" time is planned days out, and it's hard to change horses in the middle of the stream. _*BUT*_, I finally saw the movie!
My daughter and I were at Wally World earlier this week, and we bought "Act of Valor" and "John Carter" for $20.00 each.
The GF and I watched Act of Valor last night and, in my opinion, it's a must see! If you know hardware you'll be watching every move. OTOH if you know SEALs you'll be saying "Been there, done that" .
The movie is not heavy on dialogue, but it's not all kicking ass and chewing bubblegum either. There's lots of radio shorthand, squeezes on the shoulder and hand motions, but if you get it you'll love the movie! Lots of NV gear, EoTechs and reddots. High altitude drops and mini subs. One guy gets hit with an RPG and survives (it didn't go off ). Some new tech and possible scenarios. The bad guys are variously evil and pathetic (pretty much like the real world).
I will watch it again, and I might watch it a time or two after that. Act of Valor will be a permanent part my library. Both thumbs up!
I saw AOV tonight and loved it.
It was all entertainment until the funeral at the end.
Kind of hit me then. This stuff happens and never makes our news networks. I'm sure many seals have fallen and we hear nothing of it. Chris Kyle is the most deadly sniper in US history. He's from my little town in Texas and is a SEAL. He's a family friend of my Veterinarian. I'm in the animal business so we're close. (my vet and I) I met Kyle, he wrote a book and signed my copy. Awesome guy. The funeral in the movie made me think of the men that let me and mine live free.
GREAT flick. Great men.
Salute!
