Little update on reloading berger bullets for the AR10
As you know berger VLD do not like jump to the lands
Only jamming to the lands ,
I have found the solution for MY RIFLE as you know every
RIFLE is different .
I found that using 155gr of Berger VLD (hunting Orange box )
I'm not a reloader expert but my understanding of the reason
Why they don't like a jump is because they are long . So the need
A good pressure burning on the start. So I got a lee factory crimp
Die and so far its got me on the 0.60" ,
The A-MAX from hornady shoot at 0.45 to 0.30 and my next test will
Be trying different crimp from lite to heavy on the Berger .
You are aware Brother that with our rifles we must maintain a slight jump to the lands in order to keep pressures in the safe zone aren't you? Just checking as I don't want anyone to destroy a rifle or get injured.
I'm seating the bullets to MAG length this should give me a jump. I did measure my chamber and I'm .50 of the lands.
I'm new to this rifles that is a good thing to learn because I've thought about seating some closer to the lands and single feed. Thanks for the info this ain't a cheap GUN I traded two rifles for this toy I sure don't want to mess it up..
I'm only doing the factory lee crimp to gain more accuracy.
Roger that on the Magazine length and the Lee Crimp die. I do exactly the same thing. I have had great accuracy with all the SMK's, 155Palma, 168 & 175 using the same parameters you are using. Glad for the info on the Berger's, I have wondered about them for my AR-10 but have hesitated due to thier high price. Can you list Brass, Primer, and Powder for me so I'll have a note for my logbook?
