Well it is finally time to spend some Drachmas, or whatever else I can find in my pocket for a reloading press. I am looking for recommendations. Leb I know you recommend the RCBS rock chucker. My old RCBS from 35 years ago was a "C" type, this time I am looking for an "O" type. I am thinking economical, but not necessarily cheap. I am looking at that Lee kit that is $159 for press, powder measure, scale, priming tool, chamfer tool and 7 bases. I know a comparable Rock Chucker kit is $319 or more. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions or favorites?
For now I am not considering a progressive as I have my sons first college tuition coming up and I am helping him out as much as I can.
I'd urge you to save a bit longer and go rock chucker, or forster co-ax. For a single stage press though I'd take a used forster over pretty much anything. Although it will cost more in the long run, you could avoid the kits and get yourself set up a piece at a time. You'll get better stuff that way like a digital scale, quality trickler, and a more comfortable priming tool.
Oh yeah, so sharkey don't slap me with a fish... use the ar10t amazon link if you find a deal there.
I too would like to find an inexpensive press to compliment the set I have, same with the trimmer.
I would like one trimmer set strictly for the .308s and another that I could vary depending on which cal. I am reeloading at the moment.
If You come acrost a gooood deal, please postit here.
May it work well for you, my friend. If you can find the time, do a quick write up on it when you get it all sorted out - things you like, things you don't.
