Popular vote would ruin us. The populated coasts would vote away our rights one after another while making sure weirdos can gawk at our kids in any restroom they "feel like" they belong. The electoral college is one of the last remnants of the federalist system that served us well for many years.
As far as the court goes think about it, Bush gave us Roberts... :pinch:
The ship has sailed a long time ago, concentrate on doing the right thing for your local community, family, and friends, this election will not change the course. :twocents:

This election is a demonstration that in the US the Democracy ship has sailed. Whats worse, with the apathy of most people, it might not matter.

I think that the electoral college is failing us when they don't take the constituent's votes in to consideration as in Colorado. I think it is failing us when the delegates are being swayed with bribes (trips, vacations) call it what you will, it is a attempt by the establishment to control the outcome to serve the needs of the chosen few. If we continue on this course it could rapidly spiral out of control, a unstable America serves no ones best interests. If the confidence is gone in a generation you would have a society of chaos and America would not exist.

Don't confuse the Electoral College system with the 2 party system. If we could straighten out the parties then the electoral college would work as designed but as long as we allow these two parties as they are now to monopolize our political system corruption will reign. It's almost like they are driving us to throw the baby out with the bath water so they can show up with a replacement baby more to their liking.........

I agree. Our Founding Fathers were wise and, among many other things, devised the Electoral College to allow all states to have a say in the election of a president. They knew huge urban areas would swamp rural USA in an election so found a way to allow each state to take part.

Sadly this equalizer eroded over the years. Usually the popular vote winner also wins the electoral vote too but not in 2000, Bush/Gore. Liberals today are winning the popular vote because they pretend to be Santa Claus for everyone looking for a handout or an excuse for their own failures. Add to this voter fraud and unchecked illegal immigrant invasion. Those who lean to the right must pray for a close EC win in November, we won't get the popular vote of the mindless and/or brainwashed majority.

In 50 years I only give it a 50% chance of existing. I am guessing we will become three or so countries. Call it a "Red", a "Blue" and something in between.
