Looked into modular ARs back in 05 (Looking for the ultimate AR-15) and settled on the MGI Hydra as it allows me to swap magwells and use AK, AR and Grease gun mags as well as a few others now.
The LMT is IMHO the best system if you plan to only use AR based mags.
For me the ability to shoot 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 right from AK mags sealed the deal for me. Tool-less caliber change was another big plus.
Everyone else is paying $1,200 + for new wizz bang AR's in 300 Blackout. For me It's a $200 very high quality barrel and done.

It's not surprising though, after all you went through, to switch to a rifle that doesn't use a barrel nut. :rotfl:
Damn,......that's COLD!
Funny as heJJ though! Been wanting one for years, saw the prototype at ShotShow when it was released. Have not been able to afford the cost of one, a few stars aligned and I have one on the way. Would guppies it will hit the shot Monday or Tuesday.
With that stick, you're not just limited to .308. Any caliber based on the .308 case will work. I know of folks that have barrels/bolts for .260 and .338 Federal.
IIRC, a torque wrench comes with rifle for barrel removal/installation.
