As promised BUIS with 45 deg mount! This is my design "45 deg mount" and Midwest Industries SP sites and low profile scope. Preliminary design any thoughts! Going to do a little milling on the gas block mount to reduce weight, and if no other suggestions off to the anodizer for hard coat! :woohoo: They look good with the laser at 50 and 100 yards :silly: just what I have been looking for B) Beats the expensive plastic (%@&

Good job, Bro! Have you thought about mounting the rear BUIS at the rear of the railed forend? The rear BUIS in it's current location would be kinda awkward to use if you're transitioning from scope to irons quickly.

Again, great looking work.

That's interesting... how are those used, would you rotate the rifle to look down the irons if needed?

The look good! Question: If these mounts are "just" for mounting your BUIS, then couldn't they be a bit shorter? There is a lot of extra metal sticking out past the BUISs. If you cut them down, it would reduce weight. Just my 2 cents.

That's the gist of it. It's a pretty common set-up with 3-gun guys/gals these days and it's starting to bleed over a little into .mil/LEO set ups.

Thanx for all the replies and ideas, :woohoo:
1) As far as I know they would work with the Troy D.O.A.
rear sight or any SP sites.
2) Yep, I'll try and mount the rear to the back of the railed forend, just using the directions from Midwest on site location! not really sure as to how much differance in POI moving them closer together will make!
3) Yes rotate and fire
4) I'll still be doing a little milling to reduce weight and length, just wanted to make sure I had enough material, better to have material to take off then start from scratch :silly:
Really need to get to the range as if I don't like this setup, might still be able to use for a red dot!
I'll post more pix as progress continues
Great site and friends here, anyone looking  stick around B)

Akai,

I was playing around with the rifle yesterday and tilted it on a 45% angle.
With the Troy Industries D.O.A. rear appeture, (which is normally diamond shaped in the standard upright position) tiled at a 45% angle it turns the rear sight into a square rear appeture. I was able to (after some feeling out) aquire the target fairly easily. and fire (standing) and hit a 3" bullseye. I think you have a sale if you ever "mass produce"

A mini-RDS like the Burris Fastfire or Trijicon RMR would work nicely.
