Hey guys, BMS here, thought I would go out on a limb with a new Topic to see if we can get some action going, eh.
Topic is Pistols, I know, for the most part we all have at least one, so lets hear it. Ya, Ya, I know we are about our AR-10s, just thought it would be cool to hear some other views for a change.
OK then,
What is it, and why that make and Model.

Personally I have two, my little SIG Mosquito .22 and my Taurus 24/7 Pro .45.
The squito I bought for my wife (she can't pull the slide back on the .45) and for cheap plinking, I have also read it is a cheaper way to train than with the big calibers, which it is. It's not a bad little gun, a bit picky though, can't pump alot of rounds through it before it throws a fit, 100 to 150.
Now my Taurus, that is fun. I was looking for another pistol for home defense and I wanted the larger mags and easy take-down. Being I had two Barrette's before (92 FSs 9mms) I wanted some thing bigger. 9mm vs a .45 for stopping power, no contest. An old boy told me when buying a gun, it's like buying a pair of gloves, when it fits your hand perfect then you'll know. My .45 did just that, and Taurus is a pretty well known gun, I haven't had any problems to speak of, well maybe getting my night sights, that was fun (not). Next time, I have a professional put them on. It is fairly accurate with the 3 inch barrel, it does the trick, I wouldn't want to be on the other end of it anyway (chuckle).

Springfield Armory XD Subcompact in .40 S&W. It's my daily carry.

When I received my Concealed Carry Permit, the place gave a month's rental of firearms with the course. You could try any pistol in the display case, you just pay for the ammo. Went through every auto-loader in 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP in the case and settled on the XD SC 40 as the most comfortable pistol for the size/power tradeoff I was looking for. I encourage all persons looking to buy their first handgun to go through a similar process if they can find a place that rents. I tell them when they ask what gun they should get, that I can't know the right gun for them. I tell them only they will know the right one, and the only way to know is to try several.

An XD, I have read alot of good things about them and know a couple of guys that have the 9mms, they really like them. I have not had the pleasure yet to shoot one, although I like the package they offer that I have seen in the mags. I thought about a .40 smith and the 10mm when I bought my .45, but after having two 9s and a couple of .380s, thought I would try the .45. Actually I couldn't afford the Desert Eagle .44 or .50 cal (hahahaha) just kidding. You should post a pic. I will give it some thought to my next buy, I would buy it for the wife, but she feels more comfortable with a wheel gun than an automatic, she doesn't have to remember the safety.
Good home defense weapon.

I have colt 45 combat commander and Ruger 45 auto and won't part with either.but the two handguns that get the most use and that I enjoy the most are my ruger single six and ruger single action 44mag with 5 1/2 in barrels on both( had them both since 1972, when I was just out of high school).For horseback riding or hiking in the Shawnee forest, the little ruger is a great side arm and shoots anything from the 22 mag on down with its interchangeable cylinders. Have killed squirrels with it at 50 paces. The 44 mag dropped a small 6 point buck at 40 yds with the standard open sights year before last.
A 2 1/2 in taurus 357 revolver sits ready at the bedside for home defense.
In semiautos, the 45 acp on a 1911 frame just makes the most sense to me for self defense. Iv'e been salivating over a kimber in 45 acp with a built in laser in the grip at the local gun store. But if I buy it, it will give my wife an excuse to get a new couch...oh wait a minute, she just ordered a new couch, so I'm in the clear.

There's something really elegant about the 1911. I'd love one, but there's so many options out there it's hard to know which one to get (and they tend to be so expensive). Whatever I'd consider, it would have to be proven as solid and reliable as the XD

and I'm not sure what 1911s to trust for less than the cost of a rifle :(

That's quite a collection, I'm envious. I like the .357 by the bed, I used to keep the .45 there, but the wife didn't like it. That's why I'm going to get the .38 spl for her.
A kimber with a laser grip, wow, you are talking some major bucks on that one, that must be some coach she bought.

Lets see, Ruger Mark II. Have more rounds through this than damn near any other firearm I own. Silly accurate with the right .22.

Sig Suaer P239 in .357 Sig and 9mm barrel.

Ruger Security Six in .357/.38.

Desert Eagle .44 Mag. I know, I know, but the thing is a pants pisser to shoot.
